United Hands Organization is a community- based
organization located in Edmonton, dedicated to
supporting newcomers and families through
initiatives
that promote social integration,
community connection, and inclusive participation
We believe that strong communities are built through cooperation and mutual
support. Our work focuses on empowering individuals by providing practical
programs that helpthem develop new skills, build confidence, and actively engage in
society. We are also committed to preserving cultural identity and encouraging the
transfer of knowledge between generations, especially from seniors to youth
One of our key initiatives is the Traditional Community Kitchen, a program designed to
bring people together in a shared space where they can exchange cultural knowledge
and traditional recipes from diverse backgrounds. This initiative strengthens
intergenerational connections, empowers women, and supports newcomers by
providing hands-on learning opportunities in food preparation. It also creates small
scale income opportunities through the preparation and sale of food products at
community events
In addition, the organization offers training workshops, cultural activities, and skill
development programs that focus on building confidence, encouraging teamwork,
and creating meaningful opportunities for personal and social growth
The organization also places special emphasis on empowering and preparing young people
to be future leaders through specialized training programs designed to develop leadership
skills, foster initiative, and build capacity in management and community work. The
organization strives to actively engage youth in its activities and projects, providing them
with opportunities to gain practical experience and assume responsibility, thus equipping
them to contribute to the development of institutional work and lead the organization
effectively and sustainably in the future.
The organization also focuses on music as an effective means of cultural expression and
fostering communication within the community. It organizes musical activities and
workshops that allow participants to explore and develop their talents and exchange
musical heritage across different cultures. These initiatives contribute to creating a
creative environment that supports social integration, promotes understanding and
rapprochement between generations, and plays a role in improving mental health and
building a sense of belonging among participants.
